Intermediate Level

Skills:

• Independently conduct fire safety and fire door inspections in moderately complex
  premises
• Interpret and apply legislation, regulations, and guidance effectively in assessments
• Produce comprehensive, reasoned reports with well-justified conclusions
• Collaborate with regulatory bodies and stakeholders to enforce and improve fire safety
  outcomes

Knowledge:

• In-depth knowledge of fire safety principles, including risk mitigation strategies and fire
  door technical requirements
• Ability to understand complex fire safety scenarios, legislation changes, and multi-
  agency roles
• Maintains up-to-date technical knowledge relevant to a broader range of building types
  and fire door systems

Experience:

• Typically, 2 to 5 years of post-foundation experience in fire safety or related inspections,
  with verified practical involvement in fire door set assessments
• Proven ability to manage independent inspections and evaluate complex or novel
  issues
• Experience includes producing formal reports, advising clients, and liaising across
  professional disciplines

CPD Recommendation:

• Minimum 30 hours annually to sustain competence or prepare for advancing to Advanced
  level
• Engages in advanced training courses, industry seminars, mentoring, and contributions to fire safety forums
