BIOG – Lee Kennedy
Lee Kennedy is a senior compliance and construction specialist with over three decades of experience in joinery, fire safety, and construction management. As Head of the Certified Fire Door Inspectors Register for the Institute of Construction Managers, he leads professional standards development and accreditation across the UK’s fire door inspection industry.
Beginning his career as an apprentice joiner in the early 1990s, Lee progressed through a range of site, contract, and compliance management roles in both domestic and commercial construction. He has delivered major projects spanning social housing, heritage restoration, retail fit-outs, and high-value industrial installations, building a reputation for precision, reliability, and leadership.
As Compliance Director at West Midlands Fire Door Inspections, Lee has overseen large-scale inspection programmes, Responsible Person audits under Regulation 38, and full-cycle compliance from tender through to compliant handover. His expertise encompasses tender pricing, contractor auditing, PPM fire door training, and integration of Golden Thread asset data systems. Ensuring traceability and quality assurance under the required legislative requirements.
A long-standing advocate of professional competence around organisation providing the individual SKEB, Lee has dedicated much of his own business to working with contractors to benchmark their own competency frameworks.
