ICM Regions - a learning community with an open door!

The Institute of Construction Management has always been a valuable exchange of information to the mutual benefit of its members - extending back to its earliest record of an organisation representing construction site supervisors and now part of the Institute of Construction Management the London Provident Association of Builders Foremen and Clerks of Works, founded in 1842 with prime objectives to improve the knowledge and status of their members ... the Institute of Construction Management became inaugurated in 1978 - the Associations that were part of the original Federation became ‘Chapters’ from which evolved the current Regional structure of the ICM giving Members a local grouping with national representation and even a Centre for its Overseas Members ...

The Regions are encouraged to have a program of lectures and to arrange visits to construction sites of particular interest ... many of these events do carry assessed training and education time awards which does allow members to achieve their Continuing Professional Development [CPD] requirements within the Institute ...

In 2017 the ICM Executive made a bold decision to take those early prime objectives from its 175 years to improve the knowledge and status of their members into the 21st Century - thus, in 2018 it created the ICM Academy Online with a brand new state of the art interactive website platform.

The latest reiteration in 2015 of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations [CDM] across the UK gave opportunity for ICM to engage and partner with experts to develop its unique CDM Competence Registry™ ... those experts have been involved with CDM since its very first enactment back in 1994 - have written published text on CDM2007 - won Constructing Excellence Award for CDM [both at London & South-East and at National level] at the end of 2007 - in recognition the HSE awarded 'Health & Safety Champion of The Year' [one of only three across the UK] in 2008 and that professional now directs education at the ICM.

In addition to a full range of online training courses and associated online tests, the ICM plan to arrange blended learning workshop sessions when opportunity arises ... there will be a range of topics - some with guest experts invited to present - and some where parts of the ICM Online learning course material is used and discussed to better understand and improve the knowledge sharing ...

Details of all Practical / Blended Training events and suitable Regional Venue Workshops will be published on the ICM Events Calendar and also advertised in the ICM Regional Newsletters ...
